VM0047 is the consolidated Afforestation, Reforestation and Revegetation methodology that Verra activated in May 2025 to replace the legacy CDM AR-ACM0003 large-scale and AR-AMS0007 small-scale methodologies that had been carried over into the VCS programme. It introduces dynamic, remote-sensing-derived performance benchmarks rather than static project-level baselines, reducing the scope for over-crediting.

VM0047 was among the first methodologies to receive Core Carbon Principle eligibility from the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM CCP-approved). It is the reference methodology for new tree-planting and revegetation projects under VCS, including Indonesian smallholder ARR projects that previously sat under the inactivating CDM A/R methodologies.
