BeZero
Also known as: BeZero Carbon ratings
TL;DR
A London-based carbon-credit ratings agency — assesses projects on an AAA-D scale based on environmental integrity, permanence, and additionality.
Full explainer
BeZero Carbon is one of the two leading third-party carbon-credit ratings agencies (Sylvera being the other). BeZero uses an AAA-D credit-rating-style scale to assess voluntary-market projects on environmental integrity, additionality risk, permanence risk, over-crediting risk, and co-benefits. Ratings are revised on an ongoing basis as new evidence (satellite data, legal disputes, methodology revisions) emerges.
A substantial portion of Indonesian REDD+ projects are rated by BeZero, including the major peatland and biodiversity flagships. Like Sylvera, BeZero ratings frequently disagree with the registry's own validation for legacy VM0007 projects. KarbonLens's integrity-score methodology is independently derived but consumes overlapping inputs (GFW satellite alerts, registry transparency signals, public-record community flags).
